One Generation Away: Evangelizing the Future of the Church

Today, it might seem like fewer people care about faith—but that’s exactly why our mission is so urgent. At RiverGlen, we believe in connecting, contributing, and celebrating—our 3 C's—and part of living these out means sharing the gospel with the next generation. They're not just the future of the church; they are the mission field right now.
Understanding Gen Z's Spiritual Journey
Stats show only 28% of Gen Z go to church regularly. But many of them are still spiritually open. They’re searching for truth, purpose, and a community that genuinely cares. We have the life-changing message they need—and we’re called to share it.
A Generation Worth Fighting For
Some young people are already living out their faith with incredible boldness. But for every one student, there are hundreds more who haven’t heard the gospel yet.
How We Can Reach and Equip Them
Older generations have a responsibility to both share the gospel and walk with young people as they grow in faith. Psalm 145:4 says, "One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts."
According to Dare 2 Share, successful discipleship includes four key elements:
Mentorship: Every teen needs someone to walk with them, encourage them, and show them how to follow Jesus.
Engagement: Real-life conversations and hands-on experiences help bring faith to life.
Community: Faith grows in relationships. Students need circles of friends who follow Jesus together.
Relevance: We must speak the language of this generation and apply God’s truth to their real challenges.
These aren’t just good ideas—they’re a strategy for revival.
Why the Next Generation Matters to RiverGlen
RiverGlen exists to build relationships and love all people—because God loves all people. That includes students who’ve never stepped into a church or opened a Bible. We’re not just here to keep faith alive. We’re here to ignite it in hearts that have never heard.
Let’s Step Up Together
At RiverGlen, we want to be a church that evangelizes and disciples the next generation. Let’s run this race together, fixing our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2), and inviting students to join us on the journey.
Because when one generation reaches the next, the gospel doesn’t just continue—it multiplies.
